Livy Crandall "Inside?"
Paper, Charcoal

My piece is realistic, but also surreal because it has some unrealistic elements to it.I started by blocking squares onto the paper and the reference photo so I could do it to exactly scale. Then I sketched the base sketch. Last I darkened most of the background and all of the shadows from the weird lighting, and then added highlights and erased some charcoal where needed. I like how the hands and chest turned out and neck looks good as well. If i would change anything I would make sure the shadows aren't too dark or too light. Make it more like the reference image

I included several pictures of the peice, one is supposed to be blurred, and the other one is my base sketch.
Livy Crandall "Love"
Paper, Colored Pencils,

My piece is realistic, but the colors are heightened and more red, compared to real life. I started by making a miniature heart that was actually a gift, but I ended up really loving the drawing, and wanted to make a bigger one. I used the same reference photo as the little one, but I wanted to heighten the colors so they looked more like a heart emoji, more than an actual anatomical heart, because they are more pale and honestly gross looking. I started with a base sketch and eventually built up the colors. I tried putting Modge-Podge on top, but that wasn't as glossy as I wanted, so I actually used a 3D seal to make it look really glossy. If i could do anything different, I would try and find a way for the seal to not crack in weak-points after it dried because I don't love the look of the cracks, but they look ok.

Livy Crandall "Octopus Pot"
Clay, Glaze

This project has gone through so many changes, and started as a huge tentacle, but ended with this little one. If I could change one thing, I would make the details bigger, because the texture on the suction cups got lost in the glaze and in the kiln. I really love the colors, and the shape of everything. I did struggle with the handle at first, but Mrs. Dunlavey helped me fix it. I decided to make this as a pot holder for the spider plant that I was given.
